Not all Pro Cyclists can count on that big purse at the end of the day. In fact, many can't even count on having a clean skinsuit at the beginning of the day. Thus, The Gloucester Money Grab. The promoters had conveniently set the Great Brewers Beer Tent right next to the barriers. Seemed like a good idea at the time, I guess. So, all these drunk fans were throwing down greenbacks at the top of the barriers to see if any of the pro guys would go for it.
The big guns- Tim Johnson, Jeremy Powers, Ryan Trebon and Jamey Driscoll couldn't be bothered of course. with $2,500 going 10 deep a fiver doesn't seem like much. However.............the end of the pack were grabbing those bucks like pole dancers. It was awesome!
