Christian VdV's Profile

This is a very nice profile on Christian Vande Velde. All of his teammates at Garmin Chipotle H30 (including Dave Z.) chime in to say what a great cyclist and guy he is. Enjoy!

AW, this is lovely. Nothing less than Christian deserve :] I love DZ! His dry wit and sarcasm is right up my street..

First, Christian improves each year like wine.

Second, Helen, methinks that DZ has a British sense of humor, er, humour.

Definitely! Could explain why some American reporters and fans think he's being arrogant or obnoxious when he's just using very dry wit.
If he wants to move here so people understand him I'd be happy to put him up :p
There'd never be a dull moment, we'd compare mullets and tanlines and talk about how long before Tom Boonen becomes a cow [this paragraph will make no sense unless you have listened to his missingsaddle podcasts] :]

You guys are whack (as my students would say)

I think DZ would probably like an offer of free room and board in merry old England. You should invite him H.

Oh yeah- did you notice the trademark backwards hat? Sansen- I think you need to do an illustration of VdV!!! What's your going rate?

More DZ is needed on MissingSaddle unless he is developing his own International Talk Show on Cycling.
Just imagine his monologues, guests, and interviews! Plus, Tommeke could bring on his donkeys and Molly, the dog who lives with Cadel, could visit too.

Illustrate? Hmm, I can do better than stick people on stick bikes...

That's what i figured. If the illustrations on your site are any indication you have some talent my friend.

Ok, it could be because I'm British or because I'm just behind on 'it' words [where I live gets everything about 6 months after london, be it clothes, trends or words, and that's if we're lucky.] so what's whack?

And Dave had to give up missingsaddles becuase apparently Riis asked him to get more serious in 2007, but now he's at Garmin i expected a revival of crazyness. However he blogs on davezabriskie.com but hasn't done since the back injury, probably cos he's busy with his baby! It's a boy called Waylon, trust DZ to have a crazy name.

Oh, those? They're not mine. It's mostly Art Nouveau and Manga pics I manipulate to make Icons and Banners; they're what people seem to do where I blog (most of the time). Still, I can try for our twisted amusement.

Helen, Whack is middle school terminology for crazy. In a good way in this case.

Sansen,

Definitely try for all of our twisted amusement.

Usage of the word Whack: Real life scenario (today)

Me: Ok kids, today we are going to learn about the 8 parts of speech. Then you are going to design a min-lesson to teach a particular part of speech to your classmates.

Kid: Yo Miss, That's whack!

This is when whack is meant as bad crazy.

Ahh :] cool! I like words that have double meanings. Do your kids really say 'yo' though, that's a bit gangster in the UK, or i use it to be sarcastic with friends. Or if surfer talk is required. Then i have to crack out stoked, love that word.
And i frequently get told i'm crazy, guess i should accept it and embrace it, muahaha world!
